Burnsville, MN January 2, 2026

The International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jorge Carrillo, MD, FACOG, MHPE as Chairperson of the Board, effective January 1, 2026.

The Society extends its deepest gratitude to Georgine Lamvu, MD, FACOG, who is stepping down after eight years of exemplary service as Chair. During her tenure, Dr. Lamvu provided visionary leadership that strengthened IPPS’s global reach and impact, guiding the organization through significant international collaborations, research milestones, and advocacy initiatives. Her contributions include the recent collaboration with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and the development of the FIGO–IPPS “R U MOVVING SOMe” classification system for female chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Lamvu’s dedication has left a lasting legacy for IPPS and the international multidisciplinary community it serves.

“It has been a true pleasure to witness IPPS grow into the leading society advancing comprehensive, compassionate care for people with chronic pelvic pain. Its expanding commitment to improved clinical management, meaningful advocacy, and rigorous research has transformed the field and elevated the standard of care for patients everywhere. I look forward to continuing this important work and to supporting Dr. Carrillo and IPPS in the years ahead,” -Dr. Lamvu.

Dr. Carrillo brings extensive experience as a Pelvic Pain Specialist Designee and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon, along with a strong record of research collaboration and international advocacy on behalf of IPPS. He has represented the Society at numerous medical conferences worldwide, including meetings in USA, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Turkey, and Canada, amongst others. Dr. Carrillo has served in multiple leadership roles within IPPS for more than eight years, including positions on the Executive Board and Board of Directors, and as Co-Chair and Director of the Clinical Foundations Training Course since 2020 and for our Annual Meeting.

Widely recognized for his contributions to the FIGO–IPPS “R U MOVVING SOMe” classification system, Dr. Carrillo also played a key role in the development of the Pelvic Pain Specialist Designation, including the creation of its research-based examination process.

“It is a profound honor to lead the IPPS as Chairperson and to drive the ambitious goals of our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan. I am eager to leverage my background in Health Professions Education to elevate our clinical standards, expand our global reach, and ensure the IPPS remains the preeminent authority in chronic pelvic pain. My focus will be on translating our vision into sustainable actions that foster interdisciplinary consensus and demonstrably improve patient outcomes worldwide." – said Dr. Carrillo

As Chairperson of the Board, Dr. Carrillo will work closely with the Board of Directors, leadership, and members to further IPPS’s mission of improving care for people with pelvic pain through education, research, and advocacy.
