Nearly 25 million Americans and 25% of the world's population suffer with chronic pelvic pain. Most suffer in silence, with little access to healthcare. The IPPS Move Against Pelvic Pain Challenge for May Pelvic Pain Awareness Month is our way of showing they are not alone! In the month of May, we make an extra effort to spread the word about pelvic pain as part of Pelvic Pain Awareness Month!
Research shows that movement and activity is one of the best ways to combat pain. In this challenge, you can choose any combination of events: virtual 10k walk/run, virtual 5k walk/run, Zoom pilates or Zoom yoga. Do one or do them all - and when you are done show off your bling! So sign up, lace up your shoes, grab a friend or family member and move with us against pelvic pain!
By signing up for this virtual challenge you can make a real difference, keep your body active and help others who live in chronic pain. All funds this year will be split between the IPPS research initiatives (Fred Howard Early Investigator Grant & IPPS Research Development Grant) and the newdly dedicated JEDIS Grant (Justice, Equity, Diveristy and Inclusion Scholarship) designed to advance excellence in healthcare, education, and research in communities who lack access to pelvic pain care due to social, racial or economic disparities.
